Sometimes a beauty routine runs into trouble when things don’t work the way they are supposed to or the perfect product just isn’t in reach. That’s where knowing a few beauty tricks can come in very handy. If only there were an app for all our beauty woes, but until then here’s a few beauty hacks I’ve learned over the years of makeup on set.
- Heat up your eyelash curler briefly with a blow dryer for those stubborn lashes that refuse to curl. Set with mascara immediately.(*warning be careful not to heat it too much! Please don’t burn yourself!)
- The same can be done with an eyeliner to make it glide on more smoothly or turn it into a cream shadow. Heat it briefly with a blow dryer or hold it up to a light.
- Freeze your eyeliner briefly if you are having trouble with it breaking in the sharpener. The harder formula will be easier to sharpen.
- Lost your liner or can’t find the exact shade you want? Wet your eyeliner brush with water so it is damp and dip it into a powder eyeshadow. Any shadow becomes more intense with this method.
- Made a makeup mistake and you are running late? Grab these q-tips pre filled with makeup remover, just break the end at the line and the remover flows into the tip, perfect for pin point repair.
- Unruly brows that just won’t cooperate? Spray your eyebrow brush with hairspray to keep them in place. Still not working? Use a hair grooming paste (steal some from your guy) to smooth them into submission.
- It’s midday and your hair is starting to frizz. Rub a dab of hand cream between your palms and smooth your hair from mid shaft to ends.
- The party starts in 5 minutes and your legs need that glistening supermodel look. Crush some iridescent or shimmery pale eyeshadow into your hand and mix with your body cream.
- Lipstick on your teeth? No need to check in your phone’s camera, place your index finger in your mouth and pull it out.
- Transform your favorite lipstick into a matte formulation by patting a similar color powder blush or eyeshadow on top.
