eyeliner 1

I love this classic 60’s cat eye. This is from a shoot I did with Zinke swimwear. The inspiration photos were of Brigitte Bardot, that kind of effortless cool beauty she embodied for the time. I specifically kept her skin almost bare and just concentrated on the eyes to give her that cat eye liner that looks almost lived in. She is at the beach after all. This is a summery photo but eyeliner is a huge trend for fall.

I prepped her skin with Skin Food from Weleda. It’s a rich cream that is super hydrating. She had just landed the night before from NY and her skin was a bit dry. (although she has just gorgeous skin)

Next I sparingly applied Makeup Forever HD foundation in 117 using a foundation brush starting from the center of the face and blending with fingers.

Time to concentrate on the eyes. I used Christian Dior eyeliner pencil in Trinadad Black  to trace the shape of the eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible. Try wiggling the liner into the top eyelashes to make sure the black is right at the roots and no skin is showing. I had her keep her eyes open looking straight ahead so I could see where the eyeliner should end, tapering it upwards and outwards to create a slight wing. I blended this slightly with a small brush.

Next , using an eyeliner brush with Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in Blackest Black I traced over the line I had made  to intensify and give it that 60’s feel.

Under the eyes I did the same blending a bit more to soften the edges. I used Christian Dior waterproof eyeliner in Trinadad Black to trace along her waterline. ( this is the inner rim of the eye)

At this point I cleaned up under the eyes with my favorite little helpers, Almay makeup eraser sticks. These are so handy to have for when you make little mistakes. They look like q-tips but they are filled with makeup remover. Just break one end and the remover flows into the tip. Then I applied concealer, Cle de Peau in Beige.

The eyelashes were curled with Shu Uemura eyelash curler and coated with L’Oreal Voluminous mascara in Blackest Black.

For the skin I brushed a small amount of sculpting powder in Bone Beige from MAC. I also used a touch of this powder in the creases of her eyes for more definition. I also added a touch of blush in Shu Uemura glow on in soft  pink.

Her lips needed to stay pale, so I used Shu Uemura lip in bg935.
