winterskin

It’s been COLD! ( frigid and arctic are more apt descriptions)  Ok maybe not so much in Miami apart from a couple of days in the 50’s, but anywhere north of Orlando and you know what I’m talking about!

Last week I was working on a photo shoot and my clients had just flown in from NY. Dressed optimistically in shorts, they hoped to warm themselves under the tropical sun while shooting on location in Villa Viscaya, a gorgeous Spanish style villa with sprawling gardens. ( it was barely 60 degrees…) One client asked for some moisturizer as under her nose was terribly red and irritated from being frozen and dashing around NYC during fashion week.

I recommended she try one of my favorite creams for winter skin: Weleda skinfood. This rich cream that smells divinely like almonds and citrus moisturizes even the most parched winter skin. Enriched with organic pansy to calm irritation, rosemary as a mild antiseptic and calendula flower extract to calm inflammation is gentle yet nourishing. Even though it’s scented, it did not irritate her delicate skin and she reapplied a few times throughout the day. It’s a cream I always keep in my kit for any time a model needs skinTLC or for rough elbows or knees. It’s also great for adding a sheen to the skin. And I have to admit to secretly applying some as a hand cream during shoots if only just to have a whiff of it’s addictive scent.
