Exhibit “GIRL” by Pharell Williams

Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin – 76 rue de Turenne 75003 Paris – until June 29.

I will definitely be there…

What will it consist of 48 pieces of modern art, 12 of which were made especially for the occasion, making the woman the center of attention. The title of this exhibit is “celebrate a free and liberated woman”. 37 artists, of them18 women, were invited to put forth their work which in their eyes, fits best under this title. There you can view the work of Sophie Calle, Takashi Murakami, Terry Richardson, and Cindy Sherman. This exposition will also celebrate the work of Pharell where he is seen wearing amongst many outfits, the costume of Napoleon!

Robert Mapplethorpe

Grand Palais – 3 rue du Général Eisenhower 75008 Paris – until July 13.

Robert Mapplethorpe is one of the greatest masters of the art of photography. It is with amazing and stylistic ways that he uses black and white to compose portraits, nudes, and still lifes. Aside from the powerfully erotic talent of Mapplethorpe, this exposition also represents the classic dimension of work of the artist and his research done on the ultimate perfection found in more than 200 images that cover his entire life from the early 1970 to his death in 1989. This exposition will also take place at the Musée Rodin.

Tattoos

Musée du Quay Branly – 37 Quay Branly, Paris 75007 – throughout the entire Summer.

In primitive societies, in the regions of the Middle East, African and more, tattoos have a very specific goal, with a message either spiritual, religious or mystical. It was just an accessory for rituals and entering a community. On the contrary, in the Occident, it was a sign of infamy, criminal behavior and inappropriate actions, alongside the identification of tribes.

This exhibit focuses on the origins of tattoos around the world and its rebirth in the modern world.
