Dejeuner de Printemps by Alix

Dedicated to the French coming to America for the summer.

I am just so tired of American waiters!

So damn annoyed of them checking up on us every 2 seconds: How is everything going? Are you done working on your plate? – We’re not a construction site, and we’re not in a hurry! Yes everything is going well I would just like to enjoy my meal, eat at the same pace as my friends, take 2h34 to finish if I feel like it, and having my plate removed at the same time as the rest of my friends. I just cannot stand it anymore!!!

Whether you’re at a little restaurant at the beach, in a chic and fancy restaurant of a national 4 star hotel, it is always the same problem: the service is just not working out and surely does not live up to its price!!!

Word of the wise… I’m just done!

  1. I completely agree, but I also sympathize. It’s a function of our tip system. Since waiters basically make no money beside tips, they run into big problems if someone sits over a plate of food for 2 1/2 hours. They could have had two more tipping customers sitting in that seat in that time frame. So, they have to make sure you are super satisfied with their service (all the checking in on you every two seconds) AND they need you to move along quickly so they can get more customers sat and served and ready to tip. It sucks. It would be a lot better if the waiters just got paid a fair wage by the restaurant.
